SINGAPORE: Two teenagers, aged 13 and 14 years old, were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stealing at least four bicycles.
Officers from Clementi Police Division on patrol spotted them behaving suspiciously near several locked bicycles at the bicycle parking area of Blk 17 Dover Crescent.
Upon interviewing the duo, the teenagers could not account for several of the bicycles found in their possession.
Early investigations revealed that both suspects are believed to be involved in at least four cases of bicycle theft in the same area from November last year to July this year.
My friends posted this on Facebook and I immediately thought to myself "Wah what a nice way to display a weight weenie bolt", or perhaps just a gimmick to make it look like a bolt. Apparently the design has nothing to do with a bolt but is a water filter:

I have also seen one that's pretty viral on youtube, i think that is in New York...
However the one in New York is much more dramatic, instead of Bolt cutters, they used a chisel and hammer, power saw, etc on the lock to attraction as much attention as possible. Again, nobody stopped them.
If these two places at that bad, what do you think would happen if this happened in Singapore?
Do your part! If you see someone trying to steal a bike shout at him and ask if that is his bike. Is either he runs or he says yes. Of course if you are afraid he runs at you shout from a distance!
A nice person at SMBF once said he saw someone trying to steal a bike with a saw, he casually dangled his keys and asked, "What are you doing to my bike?"
The thief said, "Sorry, I got the wrong bike." And ran away. One bike saved!
If you are feeling lucky(or just really pissed at losing your previous bike), you can make a civilian arrest and pin the person down and call the police.

Despite the rain pouring in the whole afternoon till early evening, I went ahead to do the bf by myself before meeting Starringme(yes that means me) outside sc entrance along T15.
While doing bf halfway thru, I brushed thru some low branches and caught on spiderweb... suddenly, I saw something hanging between my eyes and goggles while ridng...had to throw off my bike and do a sweep of my SBO, helmet & bike.....
At the same time, took a picture of the beautiful lake just after the rain...
When I finished the first trail, I took a shortcut in the woods and join bk T15 to meet Jasper. On the way to Gangsa area before the upslope, I saw a gp of wild boars in the middle of the trail wandering for food...Taken by surprise, I stopped and ready to ditch my bike in case they charged towards me, but they all run into the forest in less than 10s... Laughing
They must be thinking crazy fellow still doing rides after the rain.. Embarassed
We fixed the lights for the nite ride and ride thru sc and wc 1 & 2nd stream. We took a rest at the usual spot and were taking some pics and Jasper suddenly asked me to point the lights at the stream's bank....
Holy shit!!! A 2 metre snake was resting at the bank and it looks very colourful...Took pic and video...

After that, we head bk from where we come from and ride thru the kampong trail and reach the end of T15. Went straight for our dinner at kopitiam ard 10pm
Damn it...both of us agreed it was a great ride and we had an enjoyable dinner...will be back for more next week... Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

P.S: Please leave the wild boars alone if you see them, hardly see them in SG so let them roam around in our little forest so that others have a chance to see them too.
As a summary, I visited two bike shops previously and one bike shop insisted that there was nothing wrong with using brake cable housing for the shifters and that my real problem of not getting precise shifts was actually the chain.
What has happened since than? I bought a replacement chain and wanted to find out if the there was any difference, the answer? Well no difference whatsoever.
I bought a KMC chain from CRC(they had a 10% sale going on), apparently stretch resistant!
Anyway, since I got a nice chain time to bring it back down to SH Store and let the shop owner honour his word that all I needed for a suitable 9 speed chain. When I got down I told him I had changed my chain, please help me tune the derailleurs.
Him: What chain did you buy?
Me : KMC 9 speed chain
He looks at my bike... Is your components all Shimano? Only if all Shimano than the shifting will work good.
*stares at my bike as if trying to assess the amount of work needed*
Him: The front derailleur also cannot ah?
Me : Ya, it rubs the chain a little.
Him: Ok, $8 if I can solve it, if not you don't charge you a single cent. (With a smirk on his face) This type of thing very hard to say one, I only sell Shimano XT chain so I can only confirm XT chain will work. Your KMC chain I don't know.
Me : Uncle, why you each day tell me different story?
Him: Aiya, you go that C2C la. They only do good bikes, brake housing for shifter won't affect one.
At this point, I'm pretty pissed and absolutely convinced never to go back to that shop again. It has been nice patronizing you for the last 10 years, all the best.

Anyway, when I got to C2C I realized that was one more person working there! A friend of mine that I met on SMBF on offroad rides and CRC MOs, cool! The C2C is definitely looking more composed as the shop seems neater and they can probably handle the amount of customers better now.
Back to the topic... Jason changed the housings and cables and told me to test. OMG, SLX IS THE BOMB
It shifted like a dream and I can't wait to bring it offroad. Nothing I rode so far shifted so fast and precise. That's for living in a shell and using really old parts... Cheers!
